Curious to know a little more about how blue border came to be? This is the place!
welcome to blue border
blue border is an all-vegan and gluten-free recipe site with a particular focus on free-from baking. Here you'll find recipes and resources for all eaters and every level of cook.
Come on in (to the madness that is free-from baking)!
I’m Kylie and I’m a vegan chef, recipe writer and food stylist. I created blue border as a platform to share my efforts to learn to bake gluten-free and vegan.
A few years ago I was diagnosed with a low functioning thyroid and my doctor recommended a gluten-free diet as a means for managing it. I’d already been vegan for a couple of years at this point so the news was a bit of a blow. Gluten-free and vegan is a BIG dietary restriction. No cheese and no bread? No dice! So I put my big girl chef hat on and started baking.
Free-from baking and heartache have a lot in common. I’ve made A LOT of inedibles and shouted a few profanities but I also became a little bit obsessed. Not only am I determined to produce delicious fail-safe bakes I’m also a little infatuated with the science behind them (did I mention I was a food scientist in a former life?).
So here on the site, you’ll find vegan and gluten-free recipes, resources for better free-from baking as well as reviews and recommendations for products. There’s plenty to explore so take your time having a look around and feel free to drop us a line with any queries.
I just so happen and am very lucky, to have a professional photographer as my partner. Adam is responsible for all the beautiful imagery on the site as well as the occasional bit of tech (ahem emotional) support.
Adam has been working as a photographer for almost 10 years and he specialises in food, product, travel & interiors. His work has been inspired by the time we spent living in Australia and the clean and bright photography that is so common over there.
If you’d like to see more of his work you can find it here.
